SAA Notes

All this imagery comes from the Old Testament. Remember Joseph’s dream? Psalm 2 as quoted refers to Christ. Though Satan tries to destroy the Church, she is saved in God’s providence by fleeing to the wilderness. 1260 days are 40 months, recalling the 40 years in the wilderness.

SJA Notes

* Dear God, Your word is a two-edged sword, piercing through to the very joints and marrow. Please reveal to us today what You want for us to know.

“Then the dragon became furious with the woman and went off to make war on the rest of her offspring, on those who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus.”

It is a sobering reminder here of the spiritual warfare that all those who are Jesus believers are a part of.

The great red dragon, the ancient serpent, deceiver of the whole world – He makes war on us.

Why?

Because we keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus.

We are salt and light in the world. Satan hates us because of Jesus within us, because His Spirit is at work in us, refining us toward glory.

So let us be encouraged and exhorted here – To continue to seek God’s will, to walk obediently under it, to do what He tells us!

To hold fast to our testimony that Jesus is Lord and Saviour, that He is the Lamb slain before the foundation of the world, the one who can save us from our sin, the one through whom we can inherit eternal life!

* Gracious Lord God,

Please help us clearly see the reality of what is arrayed against us Your people.

Please help us to remember and be reminded of who You are. That there is no power greater, no strength that can undo You and Your will.

You are all-powerful, all-knowing, all-seeing. You are the all-everywhere God, and we praise Your Name!

Amen.
