December 20, Reading 2 – Zechariah 2, 3

SAA Notes

The surveyor vision is a prophecy of hope – it reveals God’s sure plans for Zion. John, in Revelation 11, uses the same picture. Why is it necessary to have a clean, a cleansed, High Priest? Think about this in relation to Jesus and His ministry.

SJA Notes

* Lord God, please write Your word on our hearts today.

“Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion, for behold, I come and I will dwell in your midst, declares the LORD.”

Zion, city of our Lord. Where He dwells with us.

The Lord has chosen Jerusalem, the holy city, and many nations shall join themselves to the Lord.

What do we read in this passage?

That our Lord God has CHOSEN Jerusalem.

What does this mean for us today?

We have seen over and over throughout scripture that God has a bigger, deeper plan for His people than the physical earthly “made with human hands” city of Jerusalem.

It is good to keep being reminded of this.

We are being built up into a spiritual house, a new Jerusalem. We will be presented, the church triumphant on that final day, a beautiful bride to Christ, our King Jesus.

This is a good and wonderful reality to grapple with, to be excited about.

God Almighty, Creator and Sustainer of all things – He chooses us!

* Gracious God,

Thank You for choosing us to be Your people, a royal priesthood.

Thank You for Jesus, our great High Priest who is spotless and without blemish, in whom we have salvation!

Amen.
