The surveyor vision is a prophecy of hope – it reveals God’s sure plans for Zion. John, in Revelation 11, uses the same picture. Why is it necessary to have a clean, a cleansed, High Priest? Think about this in relation to Jesus and His ministry.
The Lord chooses Jerusalem!
What does this mean for us today?
It’s something we’ve seen time and again as we’ve walked through the Old Testament – That God has a bigger, deeper plan for His people than the physical temporal city of Jerusalem.
We cannot be reminded of this enough.
That we are being built up into a spiritual house, the new Jerusalem, who will on the day when Jesus returns be presented as a beautiful bride. John points us to this in Revelation. Peter tells us this. We see it here in Zechariah as we have seen it many times previous.
This is a good, wonderful reality to grapple with, to be excited about.
The Lord God, He chooses us!
* Gracious God,
Thank You for choosing Jerusalem. Thank You that we are Your chosen people, a royal priesthood.
Thank You for Jesus, our great high priest, spotless and without blemish.
