SAA Notes

The cursings and the blessings find a striking parallel in the New Testament – the Sermon on the Mount with its blessings and cursings in Matthew 5-7. There are the wages of sin and the gift of God – eternal life. (Romans 6:23) Remember the essence of sin is disobedience, a stopped ear towards God. It is not doing bad things per se.

SJA Notes

* Lord God Above, how majestic is Your Name in all the earth! Thank You that You are mindful of us.

“Cursed be …”

Moses is clear, charging the people Israel (and so us) – Keep the whole commandment!

For us this translates as Jesus said – If we love Jesus, do what He tells us.

It is a hard truth we read in God’s word, but there is not _just_ blessings.

There are curses.

We know Jesus became curse for us.

But we know that there is consequence for disobedience – curse.

The list of curses here are important to read through and dwell on.

Are we obedient to our God?

His word tells us how to behave, how to live, what He wants for us.

May we be found submitting under His will today even as we strive to go about that same will.

* Dear God,

Please write Your word on our hearts today.

Please mark us as a faithful people, as You are a steadfast God whose faithfulness is without end.

Amen.
