SAA Notes
The amazing thing is that Peter’s confession triggers Jesus’ revelation of His coming rejection, death and glorious resurrection. Then comes the meeting with Moses and Elijah. (Moses does get into Canaan through Jesus!) Mark 8:34-38 are most searching words!

* God Above, You are alive and at work, holy and true, Your word is living and active as You write it on our hearts.
“For what can a man give in return for his soul?”
This is a heavy statement, a truth from Jesus that should resonate in us.
It is possible to pay for a lot of things, as well as cheat to get things, or to bully or trick.
It is possible to get things because other people like us, because we do things for them.
But neither of those paths has a single iota of meaning when it comes to the eternal state of our souls.
Only Jesus has the purchase power, the energy and the life to win for us our souls.
Then the question is – What can we give once He has saved us?
As Paul says in Romans 12,
“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.”
* Gracious Father,
Thank You that You save our souls.
Please mark us as faithful servants who are offering ourselves up as living sacrifices.
Amen.
