SAA Notes

The terrible thing is that it is the Chief Priests and Jewish leaders who are planning this assassination. They nursed hatred and this feud against Paul in their hearts. We should never admire or excuse such a spirit. Herod Agrippa II is a greatgrandson of Herod the Great.

SJA Notes

* Heavenly Father, thank You for Your love for us shown in Jesus, God in the Person of the Son sent to save us.

“But if there is nothing to their charges against me, no one can give me up to them. I appeal to Caesar.”

When you think about it, this was a bold claim by Paul.

Bold from the perspective of humanity, bound up in time, limited and without power or ability to save or sanctify.

But from the perspective of a servant of the King of kings, the Creator God, this statement is one of faith. Simple and powerful.

Even the greatest human authority at the time does not cause Paul to waver, to perhaps take his chances with a less confronting path.

Paul appeals to Caesar.

Paul continues to confess God Himself, a much higher authority than any king or potentate, any lord or president or chairman or ceo or prime minister.

Our God sits above all.

Hallelujah for that!

Almighty God,

You sit enthroned on high, in the heavenly realms, in Your throne room where the innumerable company of the heavenly hosts gathers.

You alone are God, there is none like You!

Please teach us today from Your word, how we are to live and act. Please help us to point to You.

Amen.
