SAA Notes

Joy, song, worship, splendour, glory, faithfulness. There is so much praise in these psalms. What verse speaks to your heart and mind today?

SJA Notes

These _are_ wonderful psalms full of adoration! If we are ever stuck for words and ways to bring praise to God (whether at a personal, family or corporate level of prayer), crack these psalms open and dwell on how the psalmist describes God, praises God, brings adoration to God.

In v10 of Psalm 96 we read, “Say among the nations, ‘The LORD reigns! Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved; he will judge the peoples with equity.'”

So here we are exhorted to a particular emphasis in our evangelism.

People need to know from us, His people, that the Lord is king, ruler of everything! We can be bold and courageous in proclaiming this.

Imagine the conversation with our neighbour. How awkward that might be, what it might sound like.

Imagine in the public square today, proclaiming this to the nations.

People will laugh at the idea of God as their King. They will spit with contempt at the folly of God as their Creator. And they will certainly rise up in anger at the presumption of God as their Judge.

But what is that to us?

This is the Lord whose lightnings light up the world! The mountains melt like wax before Him!

He WILL judge the world in righteousness, and the peoples in His faithfulness.

His word calls on us to proclaim Him as King to the nations.

So let’s be encouraged to pray for opportunities to do so, for the courage to speak and act and think for His glory – For Him!

“Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples! For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; he is to be feared above all gods.”
