SAA Notes

A watchman for God’s house! Ezekiel’s job as God’s prophet was to sound the warning. What people did with that warning was not his weight. Notice in 33:31 God requires the practice of what we hear – as Jesus re-iterates in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 7:24-27).

SJA Notes

The problem for Israel, and for us, is that we so easily fall to the mindset of “The way of the Lord is not just,”

Think about the world today. Think of the “wisdom” that comes out of the world, seeking to make us feel bad about being God’s people, casting clever arguments around that seem to make futile our belief system, our world view that God is SOVEREIGN, that we are RESPONSIBLE.

What is God’s response to this thought pattern?

“I will judge each of you according to his ways.”

This is a strong and important lesson for us to hear, to be hammered home again and again.

What do we do when tempted to think that God is LESS and NOT MUCH and A LITTLE WRONG?

We are to remember Isaiah 55, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

How much to dwell on is in just those verses!

* Gracious Father,

You are above all others, You are God.

Your ways are far higher than ours.

Your thoughts are so much above our own.

Please help us to take refuge in this, that it might be STRENGTH for us, rather than the WEAKNESS that the world would have us believe.

Amen.
