Ezekiel sees twenty-five deceiving prophets in a vision. End time theories and prophecies – do these confuse you? How do we know who is right? Reflect on verses 11,12,19,20. What place should the Ten Commandments have in our discernment of deceiving preachers and prophets?
Ezekiel asks, more he falls down on his face before the Lord and cries out with a loud voice – “Ah, Lord GOD! Will you make a full end of the remnant of Israel?”
Ezekiel is concerned that God will wipe the slate completely clean.
See the Lord’s concern.
V12, “… And you shall know that I am the LORD.”
He wants us to KNOW Him!
And further, the Lord layers and expounds.
“And I will give them one heart, and a new spirit I will put within them.”
We have one heart in Jesus, we have the Holy Spirit that Jesus sent – And our own spirits are, once saved, being sanctified each day.
“I will remove the heart of stone from their flesh and give them a heart of flesh, that they may walk in my statutues and keep my rules and obey them.”
Notice that God considers KNOWING Him with OBEYING Him.
“And they shall be my people, and I will be their God.”
This echoes the truth we read of in Revelation 21, our great hope that we long for – “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.”
This is our hope! This is our God! We have this now, and we look forward to the full reality in glory.
Hallelujah, what a Saviour!
* Gracious Father,
You are making all things new, and Your words are trustworthy and true.
You are the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.
To the thirsty You give from the spring of water of life without payment.
O Lord, we are thirsty, please save us! And please merciful God, save those around us. Our loved ones, our friends and family, our neighbours, and those we meet throughout life.
Bring Your Spirit amongst us, save this land, these people! Open their eyes to the light that is Jesus, come into the world, soon to return.
