The Holy Spirit is the spirit of the Son! In this passage you see the work of Father, Son and Holy Spirit in salvation. Everyone who has experienced misunderstandings in close relationships will appreciate Paul’s words as he seeks to build bridges with this congregation.

SJA Notes

* Dear God in Heaven, thank You for Your word to us today – that through Jesus we are redeemed into an inheritance like no other.

“But when the fulness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.”

Redemption, adoption!

These are some of the wonderful realities that Paul points us to. Treasures and blessings that we are to wrestle with, to store in our hearts and ponder in our minds.

We have been redeemed, out from under the law. God did this for us, through Jesus (God in the Person of the Son).

We have been adopted into God’s family (adoption into sonship).

And because of that adoption God the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Jesus, has been sent into our hearts.

How good is this message!

That we are no longer slaves to sin, no longer under the weight of the law, instead heirs of God’s promises.

We have the Holy Spirit dwelling in us, working each day in our hearts; refining us, moulding us, making us more like Jesus.

And what an inheritance we have as heirs – Redeemed now, and eternal life in the not yet.

Hallelujah, what a Saviour!

* Father God,

Please wash us clean this day from the muck and mire of the world.

Please write Your word upon our hearts that we might not sin against You. That we would be good soil and bear much fruit.

Thank You for the redemption we have in Jesus.

Amen.
