Reading
SAA Notes
God’s judgment is not something wealth or position can save you from. The Day of the Lord will be the finish of the Devil, sin and death, as well as human tyrants – see verse 21.
SJA Notes
* Heavenly Father, please help us understand Your word this day.
“The earth staggers like a drunken man; it sways like a hut; its transgression lies heavy upon it, and it falls, and will not rise again.”
Isaiah can be a difficult read in some ways. There is much of God’s judgement, which for some ways of thinking can be hard to grasp or handle.
We have a God who delivered His word to us His people, delivered in full. We are able to determine from His word what He tells us.
This earth will end. On that final day there will be an end to this creation.
In 2 Peter 3 we read,
“But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved,”
What hope then is there? Is this earth that we live on and go about our few years the end of things?
Peter goes on,
“But according to his promise we are waiting for a new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.”
We look forward to a glorious future, one that this broken world cannot get close to matching!
In Revelation 21 we read,
“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away,”
God is building for us a new creation, one without tears or death, no mourning or crying our pain.
This is a wonderful good thing for us His people!
* Gracious God,
Thank You that You have promised us such an inheritance!
Thank You that You keep Your promises.
Please help us tell those around us of You, to be full of courage to speak of Your love for us.
Amen.
