SAA Notes

Jesus literally says in verse 70: you are saying that I am; with the “I” emphasised. Once again, Jesus uses the Name I am for Himself. Jesus clearly taught and acknowledged that He believed He was the Son of God, equal with the Father as God.

SJA Notes

* Great God, thank You for Your word, new every morning. Please mark it new in our hearts and minds today.

“So he questioned him at some length, but he made no answer.”

Hundreds of years previous to Jesus standing before his accusers, Isaiah prophesied,

“He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth;”

God in the Person of the Son shows his submission, again, under the will of God in the Person of the Father.

We read in yesterday’s passage of Jesus’ meekness.

Jesus did not push forward with His own will, but instead walked under His Father’s.

Today we see that even amidst false accusation and ridicule, Jesus submitted. He stayed the course.

We are to be encouraged and convicted here by our Lord’s humility. By the measure of His obedience in the face of even death.

This is our King!

What else can we do than to be a little more like Him today.

* Father God,

Thank You for Your love that we see in Jesus.

Please help us each day to follow Him, to submit ourselves under Your will, to be humble and contrite as He was.

Amen.
