Wisdom and Stupidity are good subjects for every person to learn about and think through. What do you think about verses 15-18? Read them in another translation too.

SJA Notes

* Lord God Above, You have made both the day of prosperity and the day of adversity. Please help us to consider this today.

“Consider the work of God: who can make straight what he has made crooked?”

This is a verse of heavy density.

We are driven by the Preacher to continue to humble ourselves under God’s sovereign will.

Because God makes some things crooked.

What can we do about that? What can the lame man or the blind woman do? What can the child born with a life-long medical issue do?

Do we get angry with God for not making us all without these things?

God does not see as we do – our limited and finite view, mortality framed lenses.

God sees to the heart, to the truth.

We are a crooked humanity, all of us.

None of us is perfect, regardless of how we might want others to see us.

It is through our frail clay jars that God glorifies Himself.

What God has made crooked is made so for His glory, just as what is made straight.

* Father God,

Please teach us from Your word today.

Please show us Your truth, show us our need for Jesus!

Thank You for saving us from our sin.

Amen.
