Jesus gives us good advice – don’t speculate about His return. Just accept He is coming again and get on with the tasks He has set us.
While some parts of this passage might seem dense and perhaps hard to fully grasp, Jesus is very clear.
Stay awake! Be ready and on guard!
But how do we do this? How do we maintain readiness?
Jesus, our Good Shepherd, He gives us the answer here.
“Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his master has set over his household, to give them their food at the proper time. Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes.”
This is how we stay ready! By following Jesus, doing what He tells us, walking obediently under the Father’s will (which means going about His will through our lives).
* Gracious Father,
Please help us to stay awake, to be ready.
Please help us to continue to, each day, fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and the perfecter of our faith – Faith which is a gift from You.
Thank You Lord.
