SAA Notes
Jesus gives us good advice – don’t speculate about His return. Just accept He is coming again and get on with the tasks He has set us.
SJA Notes
* Dear God, Your word is our daily bread. Please write it on our hearts today.
“Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”
Jesus is very clear in this passage.
Stay away from speculation of end times.
Instead, stay awake! Be ready and on guard!
How do we do this?
How do we maintain readiness?
The answer is given by Jesus, our Good Shepherd,
“Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his master has set over his household, to give them their food at the proper time. Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes.”
This is how we stay ready.
By following Jesus, by doing what He tells us (our love for Him showing forth in obedience), submitting under the Father’s will (as we go about His will, doing what He tells us).
Stay awake!
* Gracious Father,
Please help us to stay awake, to be ready.
Please help us to fix our eyes on Jesus, today and each day onwards.
Thank You for our sure and steady promise that when You do return, You will gather up us Your people as sheep, taking us home to glory.
Thank You Lord!
Amen.
