SAA Notes

Psalm 8 is one worth learning off by heart. It’s reflection on God and on the place and value of human life is full of big concepts expressed simply in word pictures. Think about phrases like Psalm 7:10 “My shield is God Most High”.

SJA Notes

* Holy God, You are holy and true, pure and without fault, righteous and just, thundering from heavens, speaking from the whirlwind – There is none like You.

“O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!”

There is a special emphasis placed on God’s NAME throughout His word.

We are to keep it holy, to respect it in ourselves and to bear it well as we live our lives in this world.

The world should be able to look at us, to hear us speak, to watch us act and to understand that our thoughts are bent towards keeping God’s NAME holy!

These psalms help remind us – That we have a God whose NAME is majestic across all the earth. There is none like Him!

He spun creation into being, a work in motion, light and planets and tiny sub-atomic state machines and galaxies – knit together.

He made us. Man. Knit together.

He upholds creation with His power, the energy by which things continue to run on. Knit together.

What a God we hold to!

* Creator God,

You made all that we see, and all that we don’t see.

You continue in Your power to sustain creation.

Even though all creation is broken apart by sin – Still You sustain us.

Thank You Lord God for the steady hope You promise us – That You are building a new heavens and a new earth, our “not yet” inheritance.

Thank You Lord – How majestic is Your NAME in all the earth!

Amen.
