SAA Notes

Peter’s confession of Christ is followed by two very important events – Jesus’ words on His coming death, and His transfiguration. Moses got into the Promised Land – because of Jesus, to see Jesus! Jesus is Moses’ saviour too!

SJA Notes

* Dear Lord God, thank You for telling us of Your love and mercy through Your word today.

“As he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like th4e sun, and his clothes became white as light. And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him.”

It is good when reading this passage to remember what happened to Moses.

In the book of Numbers chapter 20 we read that Moses strikes the rock for water instead of speaking to it (what the Lord said to do), and God responds,

“Because you did not believe in me, to uphold me as holy in the eyes of the people of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land that I have given them.”

Moses did not enter the promised land at that time.

But.

“And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him.”

Moses gains entry into the promised land through Jesus!

As do we.

We read Jesus’ words in John 14,

“I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Hallelujah, what a Saviour!

* Gracious Lord Above,

Thank You that we can see in this passage the Good Shepherd bringing Moses into the promised land.

Thank You that Jesus is true and real and alive for those who lived in faith before He came to earth, just as He is for us who come after His time on earth.

Thank You for Jesus!

Amen.
