SAA Notes
In John’s revelation Jesus opens the six of the seven seals. Jesus is the rider on the white horse. Then follow War, Famine, Death, Witnesses and Judgment (as in Egypt). What God is doing through Jesus within history is signed and sealed!
SJA Notes
* Holy God, seated on the throne, there is none like You.
“Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?”
Who can stand on that great day?
See the recognition from the kings of the earth and the great ones and the generals and the rich and powerful, and indeed everyone, slave and free@
Who can stand on that great day?
The seals are almost all opened, here at the end, and we read that everyone will know.
Everyone.
Who can stand on that great day?
See the horses and their riders, the bringers of might and power in different aspects.
The souls slain for the word of God. Told to rest a little longer, for more will be killed for the word of God.
Who can stand on that great day?
This is heavy weighty reading, worthy of our chewing over, wrestling with these images and truths John describes in Holy Spirit inspired words.
This is truth.
We might not understand it, that’s okay. Our God will reveal what He determines is best for us.
Here is the day of the wrath of the Lamb slain from the before the foundation of the world.
* Dear God,
Please teach us from this passage today. We would know You better.
Please help us understand that great day a little more today.
Amen.
