SAA Notes

Popular feeling can be wrong! The popular feeling in Jeremiah’s day was that the exiles were people with no future and the people God left at Jerusalem were blessed. Jeremiah told them the opposite was true! No wonder he was unpopular. 25:12 gives the prophecy about the exile lasting 70 years.

SJA Notes

* Father God, please help us understand You better today.

“The LORD will roar from on high, and from his holy habitation utter his voice; he will roar mightily against his fold, and shout, like those who tread grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth.”

Who is our God?

Today’s passage grows our understanding of who God is, how He acts, what He thinks.

Here God calls out the remnant of Israel who are in exile – Calls them out for blessing.

And here God calls out the whole world itself (including those of Israel still living in the land) – Calls them out for sorrow and wrath.

It is important we don’t shy away from wrestling with this hard word from God that we read in this passage.

These words can be hard to swallow, for the believer as much as those who do not believe – But they are the words of our Lord and God, our Saviour and King.

God calls us to listen to Him.

Will we hearken?

* Almighty God,

Please set within us a desire to know You better.

You are the Lion of Judah. You will roar again from Your holy habitation.

Let us be found ready in that day.

Please save our loved ones Lord God, our friends and family, those we work with, our neighbours and those who do not like us. Please save those who are working against Your people.

Please Lord God – Revive us again!

Amen.
