SAA Notes

Verse 13 challenges us today as strongly as it did in Isaiah’s day. Our hope is seen in verse 19-24.

SJA Notes

* Great God Above, please show us today what You want us to know.

“Because this people draw near with their mouth and honor me with their lips, while their hearts are far from me,”

Our God does not like false religion.

Our God knows the truth of a matter, inside and out, no matter how deep and broad we might try and hide and run and keep secret our intentions, our thoughts and even our words and deeds.

“Shall the potter be regarded as the clay, that the thing made should say of its maker, ‘He did not make me’; or the thing formed say of him who formed it, ‘He has no understanding’?”

Pride is the downfall of humanity. Arrogance and self-assurance as poison to the church, because they take us away from God, and His word is clear – These are unhealthy attributes for the christian.

Meekness is not weakness!

“And those who go astray in spirit will come to understanding, and those who murmur will accept instruction.”

But there is hope, even for the seeming prideful and supposed unteachable!

Because the hard truth, a difficult word, is that we are all at times prideful and arrogant, unteachable. We have times and places where we display a clear disregard for our King and His rule over us.

This word is for all of us, for believers and unbelievers alike, friends and family, those around us – Those who go astray, those who murmur. There is hope!

Jesus changes lives. Irrevocably, the changes written in indelible ink, the Holy Spirit continuing that writing on our hearts through all our days.

Hallelujah, what a Saviour we have!

* Mighty Father God,

You alone are holy. You alone are righteous. You alone are light and love and faithful.

You are creator. We are created.

Please humble us Lord God, under Your mighty hand, that You might exalt us in Your good due time.

Amen.
