SAA Notes

Politicians 2,700 years ago were just as corrupt as today. As we live in a corrupt world, we must look up to God and see that He is the one who is powerful and strong to do all He has promised. This chapter contains that well-known promise of the precious cornerstone that God will lay – Jesus!

SJA Notes

The plumb line of righteousness, the line of justice.

“Now therefore do not scoff, lest your bonds be made strong; for I have heard a decree of destruction from the Lord GOD of hosts against the whole land.”

This passage is clear in its condemnation of false religion and bad practice. The church leaders and the people leaders together “reel with strong drink, they are swallowed by wine, they stagger with strong drink,”

Particularly we see here God’s focus on drunkeness in leadership.

“… The priest and the prophet reel with strong drink,”

It’s a clear word to us, that we are to be different.

Instead of strong drink being our practice, we are to seek God’s knowledge, His word – Precept upon precept, line upon line.

This is good for us as individuals, and its good for us in our family units and outwards. Children need to see the reality of true heart religion, as taught to them, and as it is practiced by those around them, those teaching them.

* Father God, please write Your word upon our hearts! Line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little, there a little.

May we be a people that loves Your word, Your commands, Your rules and testimonies.

Thank You for Your word!
