SAA Notes
Reflect on verse 2: motives are weighed by the Lord! In terms of verse 25, think about some of the ways has our society declared to be right, but which lead to things falling apart – in the area of modern behaviour, attitudes, morals, standards.
SJA Notes
* Sovereign Lord God, please establish our steps today.
“In the light of a king’s face there is life, and his favor is like the clouds that bring the spring rain.”
There is much wisdom in this passage, wisdom counter to the conclusions the world makes – the fake-truths that we ourselves might come up with if we reject God’s wisdom and seek out our own and that of the world around us.
Instead of prioritising the currency of intelligence or charisma or physicality, God points us to self-control (He values this).
Instead of wrapping ourselves in the armor of pride and arrogance, instead the Lord directs us to be clothed with humility and a lowly spirit (these things He values).
“In the light of a king’s face there is life, and his favor is like the clouds that bring the spring rain.”
We can see Jesus here, clear and present!
He is the KING in whose light, the light of His wonderful face, is LIFE!
We see this truth in Numbers 6, a blessing that God gives for Aaron and the priesthood (of which we are now, members of a royal priesthood),
“The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.”
Amen to this – That in Jesus the Lord did lift up His countenance upon us, showing His favor with great power and much grace, granting us a peace that passes our feeble understanding.
* God Above,
Please show us Jesus today.
Please help us to be still in the light of Your face, to know that You are God.
Amen.
