SAA Notes

Freewill offerings were the daily meat supply for ordinary households. In Jesus’ words: Give us this day our daily bread! This is the attitude towards God that the Law of Moses encourages. The death of the Sabbath breaker is like that of Achan and of Ananias and Sapphira in the New Testament – a terrible lesson about holiness and about judgment. Treating God with contempt is stupid.

SJA Notes

* Dear God, we cast our burdens on You, for You will sustain us. You will never permit the righteous to be moved.

“I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God: I am the LORD your God.”

This is the weighty crux of argument and statement of truth from God.

When we boil it all down – God has saved us out of dead hearts in our sin into new birth alive in Him.

HE IS THE LORD OUR GOD.

Why is it important to remember and keep the Lord’s Day?

Why should we uphold the preaching of God’s word each Lord’s Day?

Why is the reading and consuming of God’s word daily so important?

Why are we told to do this or that, why does God want this or that?

Why?

HE IS THE LORD OUR GOD.

That is what we must come back to, wrestle with, submit unto.

First and foremost, God is GOD ALMIGHTY, and He is the one that saved us, He is the one who imputed His own righteousness upon us, He is the one who sanctifies us throughout our days.

HE IS THE LORD OUR GOD.

This can be a hard word, especially when we have many questions.

But it is the right place to start.

He is the Lord our God, who has brought us out of the land of dead hearts, the kingdom of darkness, into new life, the kingdom of light.

He is the Lord our God.

* God Above,

You alone are God – We worship You.

May our praise and worship be right and true.

Thank You for saving us, for sanctifying us.

Amen.
