This Psalm sees the mighty hand of God, not in Nature, but in the lives of men and women, specifically in that of the families of Israel. God redeems us to LIVE a resurrection quality life NOW! This is what the conclusion is all about.
In a sense this psalm carries on directly from the previous, 104.
“He spoke, and there came swarms of flies, and gnats throughout their country.”
“He spoke, and the locusts came, young locusts without number,”
God speaks and creation obeys!
It is good to be reminded of what God’s word is, in the manifold ways we can understand it.
When God speaks THINGS HAPPEN. His word is POWERFUL. ACTIVE. ALIVE!
God Himself is active, and we see this here, as the psalmists takes us through a quick notes journey of Israel.
It is God at center stage, the reason and the energy, the driving force, the entity that makes things happen.
“He sent darkness, and made the land dark;”
“He gave them hail for rain, and fiery lightning bolts through their land.”
“He opened the rock, and water gushed out;”
“So he brought his people out with joy,”
Our God is alive and active! His word is alive and active! Jesus, His word become flesh, is alive and active!
And as this psalm shows again and again – He is at work for the good of His people.
PRAISE THE LORD!
