SAA Notes

Grumbles and complaints were the stand-out characteristics of God’s people. They still are. When we look at ourselves so honestly, it humbles us. Our salvation too is only by grace through faith in God’s Word – Jesus.

SJA Notes

* Gracious Lord God, please be gracious to us Your people today.

“They ate manna till they came to the border of the land of Canaan.”

Here’s a little portion of a verse that has deep and powerful currents flowing through.

For forty years God continued to provide this wonderful gift of food to His people, week after week (the Sabbath built in with a double portion on the previous day).

Even with all their grumbling, their folly and at times outright rejection of God, of Moses and of God’s law – Even with this God graciously provided for His people.

All the way up until entry into the promised land.

God’s grace to His people is steadfast and true, it does not vary with the wind (or with our own flakiness).

God’s gift of faith is without merit from us, and does not get taken away when we sin.

God’s gift of eternal life is again without merit from us, and is fixed and steady and sure – A hope that cannot be broken by our brokenness, by our transgressions.

Praise God, what a good God He is to us!

* Dear Lord,

Thank You for Jesus – You in the Person of the Son, the fullest expression of Your grace and mercy to us.

Thank You for the wonderful blessings You bestow on us, unworthy though we are.

Thank You for this day, and for this passage from Your word.

Please teach us what You would have us know.

Amen.
