Both David’s heir and the High Priest are addressed. It is their responsibility to build the Temple. What was preventing them? What prevents us from building that spiritual house of the Lord? 1 Peter 2:5 We are both kings and priests to God! Revelation 1:6
There are many good and uplifting truths from this passage. We’ve got Zerubbabel the heir of David, who points to Jesus (the greater Son of David). We’ve got Joshua, the high priest, who points to Jesus (our great High Priest).
One truth that pulses bright and clear is that of the glory of God’s house.
Yesterday we read of God’s zealousness and jealousy for His House (His People, living stones).
Today we read, “The latter glory of this house shall be greater than the former, says the LORD of hosts. And in this place I will give peace, declares the LORD of hosts.”
What is the final outworking of this for us?
It’s that wonderful vision and hope of glory!
From Revelation 21, “And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.”
Who is the bride? Paul tells us clearly it is the church, with our King Jesus as the Bridegroom.
And it is a place of peace! We ready on in Revelation, “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
God’s message is the same throughout His word, in the Old and New Testaments.
Hallelujah, what a Saviour!* Merciful Father,
* Merciful Father,
Thank You that we can look forward to glory, where the glory of Your House will be made clear, a beautiful bride adorned for her husband.
Thank You that there, in this new heavens and new earth together, there will be PEACE.
