SAA Notes

Verse 18: The Pharisees and the Sadducees were in no doubt that Jesus taught that God was His Father in a special way. The doctrine of the Trinity flows from the lips of Jesus Himself. Jesus’ healing on the Sabbath was ample testimony that the God of Abraham was working through Jesus on the Sabbath.

SJA Notes

* God Above, You are gracious and merciful – Thank You for Jesus.

“Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.”

This passage is full of God’s relationship as Father and Son, two persons of the triune-God.

We must be careful in our theology to have a clear distinction of Father, Son and Spirit when thinking about God.

Particularly to refute those who would say that Jesus is not God.

Clearly the group of Jews mentioned in this passage, smart and intelligent people, wanted to kill Jesus because He was saying that He _was_ God (the Son, to the Father).

This is who Jesus is.

Let us not back down on this, but remain firm in our understanding because that is what we read here – Jesus is God, He is the Son to God the Father.

Praise God for sending Him the Son to earth to rescue us from sin and hell!

* Father God,

Please help us to grow each day in our understanding of You.

Please help us when faced with arguments about who You are.

Please help us to stand firm in Your word, being written on our hearts supernaturally by You the Spirit.

Thank You Lord!

Amen.
