SAA Notes

Paul uses the word to prophecy to mean speak in an understandable language. If you prophecy in a language no one understands, you edify only yourself (v.5). Revelation 19:10 tells us that to prophecy is to testify about Jesus. This is what every true preacher does every Sunday.

SJA Notes

* Dear Father God, thank You for giving us Your word to guide us and teach us.

“For God is not a God of confusion but of peace.”

Paul has a lot to say in this passage, but much of it centers around good order and other-centered building up.

God has made things a certain way, ordered according to His will.

We can choose to submit under His order or choose to reject it. We can choose to do the things that build up the church or choose to not.

“But all things should be done decently and in order.”

Let us be people that bring peace and not confusion.

Let us act according to God’s order and not man-made thinking.

Let us trust and obey our God.

* God in Heaven,

Your word is for us, every part of it.

Please help us understand today, even a little portion – So that we might know You better, and know how to build up Your church.

Amen.
