SAA Notes

Jesus often spoke on money. Is money a necessary evil? Jesus’ first parable commends the wise use of money! What is the real warning in the parable of Lazarus and the rich man?

SJA Notes

* God Above, thank You for sending Your word to us, that we might know You better. Please help us to understand You more today.

“You cannot serve …”

To serve. To love.

We are to be singular in our devotion.

This is the first commandment writ large,

“You shall have no other gods before me.”

Here in this passage Jesus preaches on one of the most divisive elements in all of creation.

The love of money.

“You cannot serve God and money.”

We are reminded here to be singular in our devotion, faithful to our God.

The Pharisees loved money. Our love is to be true to our Saviour.

Because He saved us! Nobody else can do that, no other thing. Money certainly can’t save.

There is only Jesus!

* Father God,

Thank You, what a Saviour You are!

Please help us, please strengthen us in our weakness, each day to serve You and You alone.

Please grow our faith.

Please help us believe deeper and truer each day.

Amen.
