SAA Notes

The regulations about sacrifice had both a spiritual and a public health role. They taught spiritual truths even as they preserved public health. Uganda is one African country that has almost beaten the AIDS epidemic. How? Young Ugandans have turned to chastity en masse. All these regulations are dealing with issues that are current TODAY!

SJA Notes

* Dear Lord God, please help us see You a little better today.

“So they shall no more sacrifice their sacrifices to goat demons, after whom they whore.”

This passage has many hard words in it that teach us of our sin, why we need Jesus.

God’s people were worshipping demons with offerings in the fields (not at the tabernacle).

God’s people!

As with Israel, so with us.

Our hearts go after not-God, turning to evil instead of good.

Without Jesus in our lives, without the Spirit at work continuously (day by day, hour by hour) – We stray into idolatry.

The people of Israel were acting in depraved ways, particularly that of sexual sin is highlighted here.

God wants for us to be faithful to Him as He is faithful to us.

Singular in our heart.

We can be exhorted from this passage to keep alert and aware of idolatry, spiritual adultery.

* God Above,

As with the father we cry out “We believe, help our unbelief!”

You are holy, and You call us to be holy, set apart.

Please help us to be this today, faithful to You and Your word, fleeing from any hint of worshipping something else.

Amen.
