SAA Notes

Noah is a man of faith – he is not perfect, nor is he without sin (as we see later). Noah, like Abraham and Moses, exhibits the faith of Jesus – he listens to the Lord and does all that He commanded.

SJA Notes

* Holy God, You established Your covenant with us while we were enemies, through Jesus – please teach us more today.

“Everything that is on earth shall die. But I will establish my covenant with you, and you shall come into the ark, …”

God made a covenant with Noah and his family, the ark saving them from the wrath God poured out on a corrupt earth filled with violence.

We believe the flood is a real true historical event.

We believe God brought about the flood because of the reasons we read here. That the earth was corrupt in His sight, filled with violence, all flesh having corrupted their way on the earth.

The ark Noah built was a vehicle of salvation.

Everything that walked the earth died in the flood, except for those living things safe within the ark.

The ark of gopher wood was a means of God’s covenant enacted.

God’s word tells us that when Jesus returns He will divide humanity (all of us, from Adam through to those alive that day) into two groups. The sheep and the goats.

The goats are sent to hell as a just punishment for their sin (this can be a hard word for us to wrestle with).

But the sheep are those who escape the outpouring of God’s wrath, God’s covenant enacted with His chosen people, those who stand safely in the ark that is Jesus’ finishing work – His righteousness, blood, death and life.

Jesus is the ark that carries us through judgement day and into our promised inheritance – eternal life.

The flood was a real event that happened. Jesus’ return is a real event that will happen.

Let us be found in the ark that is our Lord.

* Dear God Above,

There is none like You, our God who saved us by sending Yourself to become a once-for-all sacrifice for the sins of us, Your people.

Please write Your word on our hearts today, that we might not sin against You.

Amen.
