December 19, Reading 3 – Revelation 11

Reading

Audio, Visual

SAA Notes

The two witnesses are the Law and the Prophets, or Moses and Elijah. They are linked to the two olive trees (Zechariah 4) the Lord’s Anointed (or Christs) the King and the Priest. Remember what Jesus said in John 8:14-18.

SJA Notes

* Holy God, You are the same today, yesterday and forever. May Your word be in our hearts today.

“The nations raged, but your wrath came, and the time for the dead to be judged, and for rewarding your servants, the prophets and saints, and those who fear your name, both small and great, and for destroying the destroyers on the earth.”

The vision that John beholds is building toward a climatic end.

We read of specific timeframes, numbers and events. They are shrouded and hidden in symbolic meaning.

The last verse gives us a glimpse into heaven with lightning and thunder and more, and we are building, stepping toward a great end point to the vision.

“The nations raged, but your wrath came, and the time for the dead to be judged, and for rewarding your servants, the prophets and saints, and those who fear your name, both small and great, and for destroying the destroyers on the earth.”

One thing we can glean is the outworking of the final day when Jesus returns.

Judgement and Promise. Justice and Hope.

The nations rage. God’s wrath come. The dead judged.

The prophet, the saint and all those who fear God’s Name – The reward our inheritance given that we do not deserve.

Praise God – Hallelujah for His effectual outworking, saving and sanctifying His people!

* God Above,

Please grant to us Your wisdom today, please teach us what You want for us to know.

Please write Your word on our hearts that we might not sin against You.

Please continue to grow us toward Jesus, and grow the longing within us for glory, that great hope where we will dwell with You, You with us in full revelation.

Amen.
