SAA Notes

Leadership in the Church is a fearful thing. We often grasp it and desire it. God holds leaders very responsible. Pray for elders and ministers, and executive officers in church organizations.

SJA Notes

Here we read another example of just how serious God takes human leadership of His people.

We see the message of the gospel in this passage. That it is all of God and none of us.

When our church leaders go astray, and lead us astray, it because they have decided to walk away from the Lord.

Perhaps a little to begin with, a slight thought here, a straying word there.

Regardless, God knows their heart.

“… You who hate the good and love the evil, who tear the skin from off my people and their flesh from off their bones, …”

This is serious stuff!

God’s judgement on the false religion of false prophets/leaders is clear.

“Then they will cry to the LORD, but he will not answer them; he will hide his face from them at that time, because they have made their deeds evil.”

And more, “Therefore it shall be night to you, without vision, and darkness to you, without divination.”

Instead of the leadership being in communion with the Lord, living in His word, there is nothing.

Instead of being in the light, as He is in the light, they are in darkness, in the night.

Instead of having their eyes opened by God’s truth, they are blind.

We find the answer, the gospel message, the important truth for all of us. All of God’s people.

“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob, that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths.”

We don’t follow any thought but the Lord’s! We don’t hold to any truth but His!

* Father God, teach us today Your truth. Put within us Your Spirit. Please write within us, on our hearts, Your word.

That we might walk in Your paths.

Humble us today before You.
