SAA Notes

These words of Jesus in verses 22-30 should ring in our ears whenever we read any book on the last times! This parable of the persistent widow challenges us to persevere in prayer. What do you need to persevere in prayer about this week?

SJA Notes

* Dear God, thank You for Your mercy to us sinners.

“Remember Lot’s wife.”

Lot’s wife turned back from the path God had set, back toward all that Sodom had to offer.

Lot’s wife sought to preserve the worldly things, the earthly fading limited stuff.

We are to remember what happened to her, as we think on where our hearts are, which kingdom we are working in and for.

Jesus says at the start of today’s passage,

“… For behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you.”

This is the kingdom we pray that the Lord will bring about, both in the _now_ on this earth, and in the _not yet_ in all its glorious splendour.

The other kingdom we are to leave behind.

The lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life.

Let us remember Lot’s wife.

* Almighty God,

Please help us each day to fix our eyes on You, that we would seek Your face, go about Your work, in Your kingdom.

Please help us to have our hearts set of You and not on earthly things.

Thank You for Your grace and Your mercy to us, undeserved.

Amen.
