SAA Notes

Verse 19 is a challenging gem from Peter’s sermon. Verse 18 refers to the books of Joshua, Judges, Samuel and Kings as well as Isaiah etc. The theme of their history is Messiah and his kingdom.

SJA Notes

* Loving God, please refresh us today from Your word and help us to show Your love to those around us.

“And he fixed his attention on them, expecting to receive something from them.”

We often have a rigid and set idea of what help might look like, the kind of help we might expect to receive.

Understandably so! Given our frail and time-bound frames, it is very hard to look past our issues, particularly something like life-long illness.

God gives us the best answer to this.

His grace and mercy, the gift of faith, wrapped up the sacrifice of our Shepherd King Jesus – His love freely showed to a people who once were enemies, now friends … God saves our souls!

The _now_ clammers for attention. It fills our minds, grows our anxieties, threatens to overwhelm us.

But it is in the _not yet_ that we have hope, hope which helps us trust in God and give to Him our worries and concerns, these temporal and right-now things.

Help is found in Jesus. Him and Him alone.

* God Above,

Your goodness to us is a bedrock for our hope.

Your promises grow more solid to us each day we rest in You.

Please help us to honour You and Your Name today.

Amen.
