What offerings should we bring Him in worship? Be generous towards God with our heart, time, talents, possessions. These are searching chapters regarding hypocrisy between profession of honouring/respecting God and my actual practice.

SJA Notes

As we enter the final book in the old testament, the message of the Lord doesn’t tone down or lower in intensity. If anything, it ramps up!

The Lord calls out false worship, polluted offerings, despising His Name.

And then He looks at the church, at the priests.

Look at the characteristics God thinks a priest should have (remembering that we are to be priests, 1 Peter 2), “He stood in awe of my name. True instruction was in his mouth, and no wrong was found on his lips.”

This should be true for us!

“He walked with me in peace and uprightness, and he turned many from iniquity.”

Again, we should be as this. This is our calling. And more,

“For the lips of a priest should guard knowledge, and people should seek instruction from his mouth, for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts.”

As with Jesus, so with us. As He spoke God’s word, so should we.

And in whatever situation the Lord places us, we can refute lies and folly with the knowledge of God and bring His message to those around us.

  • Father God,

Thank You that in and through Jesus we are through the strait gate, on the narrow way. Your way.

We pray for those around us. Please save them.

And for those in the church who are wolves, those who despise Your Name and cause many to stumble – Lord please restrict this evil, and Lord, please break their hearts and cause them to repent and believe in You.

Please save those around us Lord God, for Your Name’s sake, for Your glory.

Amen.
