December 25, Reading 3 – Revelation 17

Reading

Audio, Visual

SAA Notes

Look at Proverbs chapters 5 to 9 and the warning about stupidity – the way of spiritual adultery. The adulteress is one major source for this chapter. So too is Zechariah 5:5-11. Babylon pictures all the allure of worldly thinking. The constant refrain of Revelation is the call for perseverance and faithfulness on our part.

SJA Notes

* God who is with us, Emmanuel, we praise Your Name for the salvation You have wrought!

“They will make war on the Lamb, and the Lamb will conquer them, for he is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those with him are called and chosen and faithful.”

The Lamb slain, conquering over evil, the Lord of lords and King of kings – He has saved us His people.

And we are called.

Called out of darkness into light.

And we are chosen.

Chosen to be a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a kingdom unto God.

And we are faithful.

This is a call for the endurance of the saints.

Faithfulness must be our emblem, our marker, our flag.

But even when we are faithless, mired in unbelief, we have a FAITHFUL (in true fullness) God.

Hallelujah for this!

So we can cry with the father who said to Jesus,

“I believe! Help my unbelief!”

* God Above,

Thank You for calling us, choosing us, for gifting us faith.

Mark us as a faithful people Lord, as You are faithful.

Amen.
