SAA Notes

Whose prayers does God hear? Here some elders of Israel are told God refuses to listen to your prayers. What angers God in our religion today? Notice the New Testament theme that God alone is the author of salvation; that man cannot save himself, because of our bent to sin.

SJA Notes

Speaking of His rules, God says over and over in this passage, “… By which, if a person does them, he shall live;”

How do we approach this truth for us today?

It points us to Jesus, of course!

Jesus kept all of God’s rules, every single one of them. He was perfect, and perfectly obeyed His Father.

We know that we cannot “do” God’s rules ourselves. We muck up, we mess things around, we sin.

So where does it leave us today?

Our salvation, who won it?

Our rescue from judgement, where does it come from?

Our assurance, in whom is it?

Our identity, where is it?

JESUS! He is the crux, the single point of success, the only way.

Praise God, Hallelujah, what a Saviour!

* Dear Father in Heaven,

Thank You for Jesus.

Thank You that He was always Your plan.

Thank You that in Jesus we can find rest and shade, rescue and restoration.
