November 5, Reading 2 – Ezekiel 18, 19

SAA Notes

Children often suffer because of their parent’s behaviour and attitudes – neglect, caste, physical abuse, substance abuse, etc. With God it is different – we never suffer with Him because of our parents. Reflect on verses 18:23 and 18:32.

SJA Notes

“The one who sins is the one who will die.”

How do we read these passages within the reality of today, post Jesus having come to earth?

Will we die?

Yes, most likely. Unless He returns before then.

Will we die the second death?

Not if we are found in Jesus.

“Repent and live!” 18 v32

We read the same truth from John the Baptist, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”, And “Repent and believe the good news!”

The message of God’s word is the same regardless of which testament we are reading.

WE MUST BE FOUND IN JESUS!

How can we, blind in our sin, dead in our sin, blinded in our sin – Repent?

It is only through Jesus!

* Father God,

We hear the call, repent and believe! Repent and live!

And we know, from Your word, this is only possible in Jesus.

Please cause within us a revival, that our eyes may look to You, that our ears may be opened, that our hearts be broken and contrite, hearing Your word in truth.

Your word, which is Jesus, become flesh. Now at Your right hand, Father to Son.

O Lord, we repent. We believe!

Amen.
