SAA Notes

The celebrated weaknesses and strengths of Martha and Mary are reversed in this incident from that of Luke 10:38-42. It is to Martha that Jesus says the wonderful words of John 11:25,26. Resurrection is our future in Christ, not re-incarnation, nor nothingness, nor angelhood.

SJA Notes

* Holy God, please write Your word on our hearts today.

“I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die.”

These are words from Jesus that reveal the undergirding of our faith.

What words they are!

Of comfort when we mourn the loss of believers to death.

Of wonder as we consider our King and Lord and Saviour.

Of hope as we consider our own mortality.

Jesus is the resurrection that Job spoke of.

Jesus is the life breathed into dead bones that Ezekiel spoke of.

Let us live and believe in Jesus today – He is the resurrection and the life!

Do we believe this?

* God of grace and mercy,

We come before You today, please humble our hearts and renew our spirits.

Thank You for the great hope we read of in today’s passage – That You in the Person of the Son, our King Jesus, are the resurrection and the life.

Death could not hold You, and cannot hold those who live and believe in You.

Hallelujah, what a Saviour You are!

Amen.
