November 13, Reading 3 – John 10:19-42

SAA Notes

The Jews treated Jesus as if He were an Achan to stone, and not His namesake Joshua. Read Joshua 7. How do you treat Him? Notice that the claim of the divinity of Jesus is no second century addition by the Christian Church. The first century Jews understood that Jesus was claiming to be God!

SJA Notes

* Lord God Almighty, please break our stubborn wills and write Your word upon our hearts today.

“I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.”

Oh the tender mercies and steady hopes wrapped up and layered over in these words from our King Jesus.

The giver of life, the master of our fates, the guardian of our souls.

But too there is the other side of the coil, flip it over and we read “PERISH”.

Outside of Jesus – Perish.

This is a hard truth. Without Jesus there is no real and lasting hope. No life. No safety. Damnation without end.

The terrible reality of the end point of unbelief.

Let us be exhorted in this, our hearts going out to those around us – To witness Jesus to them.

That He gives eternal life, and that the alternative is to perish. Forever.

May hearts be broken before Him, His love strong and evident to us.

* Father God,

Please save our loved ones who do not know You.

Please break hard hearts and put to flight stubborn wills.

Please give new hearts and new spirits, born again in You.

Please Lord, please revive us Lord!
