SAA Notes

Remember Jesus weeping over Jerusalem? Jeremiah does too, like his Master and yours. Such tears sow blessing in the midst of our great curse – our uncircumcised hearts.

SJA Notes

* Gracious God, thank You for Your word today to us. Please show us wisdom.

“… but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the LORD.”

What can we tell people about our God?

Firstly, that He is the Lord God who practices steadfast love on this earth.

We see this most of all in Jesus. God’s love shown so deeply in sending Himself to be a sacrificial lamb for His people.

Secondly, that He is the Lord God who practices justice on this earth.

We see this most of all in Jesus. God’s justice, His just wrath at sin against Him, was poured out on Himself at the cross. Atonement for us while justice was kept.

Thirdly, that He is the Lord God who practices righteousness on this earth.

We see this most of all in Jesus. The True Man, the Right Man. Perfect, without sin, resisting temptation without giving in, even a little bit. He walked the narrow way, showing how to live, preaching to us His word in and out of season. He is the pattern for us, experiencing the full gamut of humanity and submitting under His Father’s will.

What can we tell people about our God?

Even though it may lead to ridicule or argument or rejection?

That He is a loving God! That He is a just God! That He is a righteous God!

* God Almighty,

Thank You that You are a steadfastly loving God.

Thank You that You are a just God.

Thank You that You are a righteous God.

Amen.
