SAA Notes

Philippians 2:3 has the sense that it is better to allow yourself to be bested, rather than to destroy the church of God through ambition. Paul is not talking about a pretended humility but about seeking the attitude of Christ Himself for yourself.

SJA Notes

* Dear God, Your justice will roll down like a river, please let us be found in Christ Jesus on that day.

“Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.”

How do we, God’s people, be of the same mind, have the same love, be in full accord?

Paul points us to practical humility.

Counting others more important, more significant, MORE than our own selves.

Because that is what Jesus did.

This truth is, in and of itself, deep and weighty and worthy of wrestling with.

That God Himself came down and became man, humbling Himself to the point of death.

That is how we can find unity with one another – When we be like Jesus. When we act as He did, putting others before ourselves.

A good thing to be encouraged in.

* Father Above,

Please help us to be as Jesus was, humble and obedient under Your will.

Please remind us each day of our need for You, and help us each day to strive for unity with one another.

Please make us more like Jesus each day.

Amen.
