Paul had never been to this church. They accepted him as Christ’s Apostle. Meditate on what Paul says in verses 5,6. You will find much to think through and about in this book.
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.”
Here Paul gives us a most excellent and powerful word.
It is a word of encouragement – That the wonderful good news of Jesus saves!
And it is a word of exhortation – That we must be NOT ASHAMED of this news.
Break it all down, pair it all back, and sit a while with the simple reality of Jesus.
How is our daily walk, our thoughts/words/deeds – How do we show we are NOT ASHAMED of Him, of the good news He brings?
We will never get too wise, too old, too learned, to experience for this not to resound a bell of truth into our hearts.
Let’s strive tomorrow, and each day onwards, in the opportunities that God brings, in the little unseens moments and the big loud conversations – To be NOT ASHAMED of Jesus!
* Gracious Lord God,
Thank You for Jesus. Thank You for the good news of Jesus, that it is Your power for salvation, for all who believe.
We believe Lord, help us in our unbelief!
