This passage begins with a wonderful declaration by God: “I, I am the LORD and besides me there is no saviour!” May your heart be warmed and blessed as you ponder on them.

SJA Notes

* Dear Lord God, please teach us from Your word today.

“For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour my Spirit upon your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.”

We read in today’s passage that the Lord gives water to the thirsty.

It is clear that this water is spiritual, and that it is God in the person of the Holy Spirit.

No other drink, no other wisdom or person or path can sustain us, revive us, renew us.

In John 4 we read of Jesus’ words to the woman at the well, speaking to her about the “water of life”,

“The water that I give him will become in him a sprint of water welling up to eternal life.”

This is a wonderful glorious truth for us to hearken to, to bask in and dwell on – And it is an important exhortation.

We are to be a people in whom the Holy Spirit is WELLING UP!

Overflowing, abundantly – Not stagnant waters, we are to be ever-flowing with the Spirit (with the fruits of the Spirit).

* Three-Person God (Father, Son and Spirit),

Thank You that You have called us, saved us, rescued us – From darkness You have brought us into the light!

Thank You that in Jesus and Him alone we have the water of life, Your Spirit, welling up in us.

Please mark us as a people of Your Spirit.

Amen.
