Women gave their mirrors to make the Altar Of Burnt Offering. This was a precious gift. Mirrors were made of polished bronze. Their labour was not in vain in the Lord! Their example should encourage us in our greater building of the Church, the Tabernacle of His body.

SJA Notes

“He made the altar of burnt offering of acacia wood.”

The altar of burnt offering was a place where sacrifices were brought.

Bezalel built an altar that was used for the types of offerings as prescribed in the law God handed down to Moses.

We read in the book of 2 Samuel ch 24 that after he sinned in numbering Israel, David built an altar to the Lord and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings.

The altar was where sacrifices were brought.

We read of David’s offerings,

“So the LORD responded to the plea for the land, and the plague was averted from Israel.”

In Jesus we see God sacrifices Himself in a response to our own plight, the plague of sin.

In Jesus we see God offering Himself in a deep and lasting, once-for-all way, that the blood of bulls and rams could never achieve.

In Jesus we have our perfect Saviour, our Servant King who bore upon Himself the punishment for the entirety of His people.

Hallelujah, what a Saviour!

* Almighty God,

Bless Your Name, You have saved us from our sin into life eternal.

Praise Your Name, You offered up Yourself as the one-for-all sacrifice for Your people.

Hallowed be Your Name, You work within us and call us to present ourselves as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable in our spiritual worship of You.

Thank You Lord!

Amen.
